University of Florida – Jacksonville
CSE Internship
The UF
Center for Data Solutions is seeking a computer science engineer to bolster and
compliment machine learning analytics for health sciences research. This
position will work alongside other analysts
in the Center’s Advanced Analytics hub to translate our research
findings directly to patient care through the use of virtual health assistants
and other automated technology / online platforms. The UF Center for Data
Solutions has over 50 current active projects in a variety of health science
fields, including the institutional priorities of acute critical care,
cardiology, and aging, among others. A major need in our healthcare
organization and others at this time is how to continue excellent care and
implement research findings in the COVID-19 pandemic era. The use of virtual
health assistants and their development and refinement are high-priority areas
and will assist the candidate in developing in-demand and marketable skills for
future employment.
Candidates
for this internship position will be undergraduate or graduate CSE students
(undergraduates with adequate experience will be considered). Candidates must
be fluent in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, R), with additional
computer programming experience and expertise encouraged. Interests in
precision medicine, genomics / omics, and natural language processing are
viewed favorably. The internship is compensated, and work hours are flexible.
Currently all work at Center for Data Solutions is conducted according to social
distancing guidelines via Zoom and our Slack channel.
