EGN6933 course

Ever thought about a faculty position?  Looking for an engineering postdoc?  Dreaming of becoming a research professor or maybe a lecturer?  Not sure where to start or what to ask?  Then this class is for you!

The objectives of this 1-credit experiential course are to:

  • compare/contrast career paths for engineering doctoral degree holders in industry, research labs, and academia
  • introduce the academic hiring process and assist students in navigating that process
  • explain the qualifications/expectations that academic institutions are seeking in new faculty and help students document those qualifications
  • develop professional, leadership, and management skills to maximize future success

More detail can be found in the attached syllabus.  To enroll, register in EGN 6933 Engineering Faculty Development (class #13664), listed under "Engineering - General” in ONE.UF.  I also invite any interested postdocs to join/audit (with supervisor approval).

Please contact David Arnold (darnold@ufl.edu) with any questions.
